DREAM HOME FEATURE ARTIST
The countdown to the greatest outdoor show on earth is on, and it’s time we announce the 2017 Stampede Rotary Dream Home feature artist.This year’s artist submission call for the 2017 Stampede Rotary Dream Home was met with an outpour of talent. Thankfully, we had a diligent team of Homes by Avi staff members and designers, art gallery professional, and past winners who focused on the theme of Scandinavian design to fit this year’s home and collectively, they picked the winner.
WORLD, MEET JOHN F GARRARD!
John has been creating art ever since he was a child, and has experimented with different forms and mediums over the years. From theatre to music to studying at ACAD, John is now developing his own blend of representations and abstractions with two dimensional works on canvas.
“Besides his obvious talent, what really drew us in is the unique mix of paint with charcoal to create his dramatic effect,” says Julie Punter, manager of show home selections and presentation at Homes by Avi. “We love his abstract expressionism, city skylines, and portraits and can’t wait to see the final product in the home!”
“I’ve been elated since I found out the news, and have started planning and compiling the work for display,” says John F Gerrard. “I’m looking forward to hearing people’s feedback first hand from their visit to the Dream Home, and to have it exposed in a way I could never imagine!”
The Dream Home has been raffled off for the last 21 years. We’re committed to those in our communities, and whether it’s connecting a local artist to the masses, or funds to our local charities, we’re all so happy to be a part of the dream.
